Healthy Habits for Desk Workers

It’s easy to feel glued to your desk all day. Maintaining your health while staying productive is achievable! Try these simple strategies: 

Tip 1: Master Ergonomotics 

A well-designed workspace can make a huge difference in how you feel throughout the day Check out these points: 

Monitor should be eye level 

Shoulders should remain relaxed while working throughout the day

Ensure feet should be flat on the floor

Elbow should be kept relatively close to your body 

Thighs should be parallel to the floor

Tip 2: Make Movement a Habit 

The human body is made to move. Even small bursts of activity can counteract the effects of sitting. Consider these options: 

Take 5-minute activity breaks every hour (get up and do squats, walk around the block/house, jumping jacks, etc)

Use your lunch break for a walk

A standing desk with a walking pad can promote continuous movement  

Try some simple desk stretches every hour (thread the needle, child’s pose, standing open books, etc)

Also, snacking on nutritious snacks will help you feel better overall. Try meal prepping some healthy snacks that are easy to grab in the morning to help you stay on track.
