DOCTORS OF PHYSICAL THERAPY
Elise Wallgren, PT, DPT
Hi! I’m Elise Wallgren, a Doctor of Physical Therapy that specializes in orthopedics and performing arts. I have a passion for treating patients across the lifespan with varying orthopedic conditions including the spine, upper extremities, and lower extremities. It is my joy and privilege to partner with my patients, providing them with the tools to thrive to ultimately live their highest quality of life! I will be one of your greatest “cheerleaders” along your journey to achieving your personal goals. My sessions include hands on manual interventions, dry needling, and specific exercises to address deficits and improve overall function and prevention.
In addition to my extensive training, I began dancing at the age of four, competed regionally and nationally with Accent On Dance from third grade through my senior year of high school, receiving numerous recognitions and scholarships throughout my career. I continued with dance training at the collegiate level and received a Dance Minor at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. I am trained in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, modern, and contemporary dance. Additionally, I have over 8 years of experience as a dance instructor and choreographer, working with kids ages 4 through 18.
My practice isn’t simply a job for me; it’s a vocation. I am incredibly passionate about walking alongside my patients and equipping them to reach their highest level of function and prevent future injury. I look forward to meeting the demands of your busy and active lifestyle with you and facilitating strength and resilience along the way!
Stephanie Smith, DPT, OCS
Hi! I’m Stephanie Smith, a doctor of physical therapy and orthopedic clinical specialist. I have worked as a physical therapist for the last 10 years and have enjoyed helping my patients with a variety of orthopedic injuries, ranging from head to toe. My focus during sessions is to use my manual therapy interventions, dry needling techniques and overall functional exercise to help patients to improve their movement and strength to attain their personal goals. Ultimately, I want every patient to be able to work towards levels even better than their previous activity.
Throughout my professional career, I have earned a Wisconsin Physical Therapy Association Award for my contributions to the profession in my first 3 years of practice and became a Board Certified Orthopaedic Specialist of physical therapy in 2016. I have advanced training in manual therapy for the spine and both upper and lower extremities and am certified in dry needling. Areas of further training include treatment of headaches and jaw pain, dizziness, pelvic health, and pregnancy and postpartum exercise.
I truly love the challenge of treating any problem a patient presents to me and working to establish any interconnections between other past and present symptoms. I am passionate about not only treating the current problem but empowering my patients to look to the future and help prevent further injury. I love providing the framework, exercises, and resources to help patients feel in full control of their future and overall health.
Molly Shea, DPT, RYT, PCES
Hi! I’m Molly Shea, a physical therapist and yoga teacher. I founded Breathe In Motion Wellness on the strong belief that every person deserves to feel good and keep doing the things they LOVE! After working in the traditional health care system for several years, I grew tired of the “sit and wait” approach to injuries and being confined by the restraints of insurance companies dictating patient care. I believe we need to shift our focus to lifestyle medicine and prevention of injuries before they become a bigger issue!
I am passionate about giving clients the tools and movements needed to reach their full potential. My treatment approach involves the entire body to identify problematic areas that may require further attention and lead to inefficient movement. Your left shoulder pain, right low back symptoms and right knee pain may all be connected. I’ll find the central link and tackle a problem before it becomes painful or limits your function.
My specialties include treatment of orthopedic injuries in gymnasts and dancers, fitness, wellness, and women’s health. I have advanced training in manual therapy, dry needling and specific corrective exercises for treatment of the spine and pelvis. I have a large toolbox of techniques including cupping, trigger point release, myofascial release, yoga and exercise to deliver the best results for each individual client. I feel strongly about taking a preventative approach to rehab for all athletes.
In addition to athletes, I have advanced training in prenatal and postpartum care, internal pelvic floor muscle exams/anatomy, SI joint issues, pubic symphysis pain/dysfunction, tailbone pain, and visceral mobilization (abdominal mobilization/massage) for postpartum clients. I am also trained in prenatal yoga and am a trained birth doula.
PERFORMANCE THERAPISTS
Maggie Zoeller, CPT, PTA, Pilates Instructor
Hi! I’m Maggie Zoeller, a licensed physical therapy assistant, certified personal trainer, and pilates instructor. I am passionate about helping performers, athletes, and individuals of all fitness levels reach their full potential without pain or limitations. I utilize hands-on, manual therapy techniques like cupping, active and deep tissue release & mobilizations in combination with Pilates & exercise progressions to help you crush your goals and perform even better. My unique skill set and background allow me to take a very preventative approach towards physical therapy treatment; taking clients to a whole new level of fitness.
After graduating from UWSP with a BA in dance, I danced professionally with the Milwaukee Bucks and performed as a professional dancer and aerialist around the world with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. I grew up in the Waukesha area as a competitive gymnast at Midwest Twisters Gymnastics and a competitive dancer at Accent On Dance. I found a passion for fitness and wellness while living an active athletic lifestyle. I became a CPT and Pilates reformer instructor during my time in the dance program at UWSP.
While performing with Royal Caribbean as an aerialist and acrobat, I experienced an injury that required me to be sent home for further medical attention. After receiving a CT scan, I was told the severity of my injury would likely end my career as an aerialist and acrobat. After four weeks of physical therapy, my prognosis was proven otherwise. Physical therapy allowed me to return to my work as an aerialist stronger than before my injury.
My passion for physical therapy, injury prevention, and overall wellness grew during my rehabilitation journey. It is my honor to provide the highest level of care and positively treat each client towards reaching their greatest physical goals! During and after your rehabilitation, we will work together to bring you back to your full potential for performance. My additional skill set in strength training and programming, pelvic health, and manual hands-on techniques provide a unique skill set here at BIM.
I am looking forward to working with you to achieve your goals and beyond!
